Pick your own date and time to schedule a wreathmaking workshop. Though it can get hectic, the holiday season is a great time to gather with family and friends. Create your own bonsai plant to keep outdoors year-round in this hands-on workshop. Bonsai enthusiast George Bowman will also teach you the basics of growing outdoor bonsai. Forcing paperwhites is an easy way to add life and fragrance to your home around the holidays! These lovely flowers can be rustic or elegant, depending how you deploy them. Do you want a decorative container to beautify your living space? Or, do your existing pots need a new look? Learn to refresh and update your existing containers to keep the plants healthy and the design seasonal and meet some wonderful plants for the winter season. Concepts of designing a container and aesthetic principles will be discussed, followed by hands-on planting of a new container if you choose. Bring gloves!

Join terrarium fanatic Angelina Ponce for this hands-on workshop where you will build your own little ecosystem in a glass container! Angelina will walk you through step-by-step, discussing terrarium "ingredients", lighting and moisture requirements, and choosing the right plant combinations for a healthy, thriving terrarium. She will also give great tips for how to use different container styles and decorative additions to spice up your little green scene.

Food as Our Medicine Series:
Growing Nutrient Rich Vegetables From Healthy, Vibrant Soil

This class builds on the previous classes in the “Let Your Food Be Your Medicine, and Your Medicine Be Your Food” series by Marc Scheidecker. We first look at another of Hippocrates' famous maxims “First Do No Harm” and how it applies to our gardens. The critical importance of the “trace elements” in soil, Liebig's “Law of the Minimum”, the amazing role of Mycorrhizal fungi, and the concept of “Tilth” are discussed.

Food as Our Medicine Series: Spacing and Planting

Marc Scheidecker joins us for another eye-opening class in his Food as Medicine series. He’ll help us understand why Steve Solomon said that we should never put our vegetables in a situation where their root systems are forced to fight and compete with one another. He’ll discuss how to avoid damaging food crop nutritional levels through proper spacing and planting, how to develop good air flow through the garden and how to water to minimize disease.
