FAQ
The Portland Nursery team is made up of plant lovers, horticulturists, botanists, and Master Gardeners—so we can always help you identify and care for your plants, whether you purchased them from us or not.
For plant or pest ID, or to diagnose an issue with your plant, the best thing you can do is to bring the pest or a portion of the plant to the Info Desks at either of our SE Portland shops. If you suspect a disease or pest issue, we ask that you bring a specimen or cutting to us in a plastic bag. For plant ID, a little bit of leaf and a flower can go a long way!
If you cannot make it to the shop, your second-best option is to connect with us on our Contact page. If you are going to send us a message about plant or pest issues, we ask that you provide a detailed account of what the plant is experiencing—including how much water the plant has been receiving. In addition, we ask that you include clear, close-up photos of the affected area and of the suspected pest. For plant ID, we ask that you provide clear, close-up photos that include the foliage and flowers whenever possible. Additionally, it can be helpful to see the overall structure of the plant, so including a photo from a bit farther away would be beneficial.
We guarantee our plants to be disease free and true to name. If any plant fails to thrive, or if any product proves defective or unsatisfactory, it may be returned for a refund or exchange. The only two exceptions are cut Christmas trees and gift cards.
Customers who provide their original receipt may receive an exchange, get store credit, or be refunded in the form of the original method of payment. For example, if a credit card was used, the refund will be credited back to that account.
Without the original receipt, refunds will either be issued as store credit on the customer’s account, or as an exact product exchange (subject to availability of the item).
Every year, Portland Nursery proudly supports over 400 local schools, social services, gardening programs, and other nonprofit organizations with both sponsorships and in-kind donations. We believe in supporting hands-on gardening that increases food security and educational opportunities while also creating healthy neighborhoods and ecological habitats.
If you would like to contact us about a donation, partnership, or educational opportunity, please email our Community Outreach page.
